Some thoughts about Insurance…

For many years now, as part of our ethos of providing a total Care Plan for both yourself as the client and your car, we have provided as part of that plan, Full Comprehensive Insurance covering vehicles up to a value of £19,999.
Vehicles with values exceeding this can be insured at the following rates:

£5 per month for vehicles £20,000 to £49,999
£10 per month for vehicles £50,000 to £100,000

In addition, some clients have wished to insure their car with their own insurance company for reasons of loyalty, or to protect a long standing No Claims Bonus.

In an attempt to reduce costs, some storage companies may insist as part of their contract that you insure your car elsewhere, to indemnify them or hold them blameless if anything happens to your car caused by their actions. Or worst still, reduce the liability that they may have in a claim.
Invariably these contracts would be thrown out of court under the Unfair Contract Terms Act, 1977. This may mean that if there were a claim for fire, theft etc., the client would have to prove to their insurer that the Storage Company was negligent before any claim could be considered - quite often a difficult task. This invariably leads to dispute, which is not good for any party.

Aon are a specialist insurer, with many years of experience. They provide insurance for collectors, restorers, museums, dealers, auction houses, and others within the classic car world. Indeed many of their staff have a personal involvement with collectors’ cars. They thoroughly understand the classic car business. All of their schemes are fully underwritten by the Royal & Sun Alliance, one of the largest insurance groups in the country who are well versed in the classic car world.
